Art feature
I just saw someone do one of these, and it inspired me to do one of my own. I haven't seen this kind of feature in forever (except the one I just saw), but they were super fun and a cool way to spread art around, so I don't know why they're not really a thing anymore.

Actually, this is the first white humpback whale sighted in the North Atlantic. There is another all-white humpback whale, named Migaloo, that has been seen off the coast of Australia for over a decade (Migaloo means "white fella" in the Australian aboriginal language). Just Google "Migaloo" and you'll find all sorts of articles, photos and videos of him. Last year there was also a white humpback calf seen and photographed near Australia; some suspect that Migaloo might be it's dad.
And yes, there is a white sperm whale that's currently alive, seen quite often and photographed off the coast of the Azores for over 20 years. It was first photographed as a calf in 1993, by renowned National Geographic whale photographer Flip Nicklin in 1993; his photos of this calf, swimming with her mother (yes, the white sperm whales is a female), have been reproduced many times. Since then others have photographed that calf, and recently both photographs and video/film of this same whale as an adult, swimming on the surface, has shown up on the Internet.
So, how do I know all of this? Because I am an artist who draws and paints whales and dolphins, and I've been doing it for over 40 years; including several drawings, and one new painting, of Moby Dick (entitled "Leviathan" and features a breaching white sperm whale, with a wrinkled brow and crooked jaw, with sea birds flying all around, just as Melville described him); and I've done extensive research on white whales in general to better inform my work. BTW, Melville does not say that Moby Dick was pure white, like an albino, but rather his head and the hump on his back (sperm whales don't have a dorsal "fin", but rather a low, fatty, but prominent hump, @ 2/3rds of the way from the front of the head) was white. The rest of his body was streaked with dark gray and white, like white marble.
